My List of Top Ten Players

I shared some memories last week in honor of Stan Musial’s passing. I consider Stan to be one of the top five players to play baseball. He was also a great guy.
Here is my list of top ten all-time players — in no particular order:
Willie Mays
Hank Aaron
Babe Ruth
Ty Cobb
Stan Musial
Mickey Mantle
Joe DiMaggio
Ted Williams
Roberto Clemente
Frank Robinson
You won’t see any current players on my list, and frankly nobody on this is had a career that extended past my own — I guess I am biased in that way. I always had a tremendous amount of respect for these players and admired their ability and love for the game.
I’ll be speaking on the Bower show this afternoon, you can listen live at http://www.979espn.com/pages/thebowershow.html
Me n Metz meeting Pete Rose (Taken with Instagram)
I had a great teammate die this week, Pete Borbon. He was a great teammate and great guy, we all loved him very much. Plus he was a great reliever. I don’t have a favorite memory of Pete, but there is a famous story of him ripping up a Mets cap with his teeth during the 1973 playoffs. He NEVER had a sore arm, he could pitch if you woke him up on XMAS day.
Indy 500
I had a great time at the Indy 500 last month. The experience of being at a sporting event with over 400,000 people was pretty incredible. I got a chance to spend some time around the track before the race, and had the opportunity to meet Dario Franchitti before the race before he won. I also met Dixon who ran 2nd in the race. It was really a great event and I’m glad I had the opportunity to attend.
